Timeless Ticking
Mannequin By Robert Rae, Paintings, & Tote By Mary Maki Rae - 2010 (c)

While sewing together a casual Tote Bag from some Artist's Canvas - I chose to include some extra pieces of upholstery fabric from various projects.
I was amazed to see how well this material worked for the Tote. The look and weight is so great for this type of Bag - Purses - or even certain types of clothing.
Take for example - Cotton or Linen Ticking - I've always loved the clean look and feel of it-! I recall how I enjoyed wearing a "kind-of-sporty" skirt & vest outfit made of Tan & Cream Ticking - Summers ago-!
Following are samples of the type of Ticking I find so attractive:

Ticking used for Upholstery on French Chair
or for a French style Bed
or even a Tented Room.

A Great source for Ticking Fabric is from: "Ian Mankin"-Natural & Organic Fabrics - I was amazed at the variety of colors & patterns of stripes they offer - even some Floral and Gingham Checks that co-ordinate.
